FABLES, FOLKLORE AND FOLKTALES: THE REMIXES

THE PROJECT

By now, you all know the story of Mr. Murray's hero John Henry and how his story has been remixed and retold over time. Now it's you turn to rewrite history. Your task is simple: rewrite some of the most famous fables, folklores and folktales in a modern times.

THE WORK

1) You may choose two of your choice, but be sure to pick a fable, folklore or folktale that you have never read before.

2) After you have finished reading them, you will be responsible for writing a response to the fables, folklores or folktales in a Word document. A response is:

     - a breakdown of the fable as you understood it. The characters involved, the events of the fables, folklores or folktales, the meaning      or why the fables, folklores or folktales is important, etc

3) Once you're done with your response, you will then remix one of the fables you read or pick a new to remix in the same Word Document below your response. Below are the list of fables, folklores and folktales you read, breakdown and remix.

4) Now that you have some idea as to how stories and ideas and legends get passed down through the generations, your job is to partner up and collaborate. Together you will:

     - edit each others story

     - critique each others story. This is your chance be a co-author. A critique can be: advice as to things to add, suggestions as to what work or doesn't work, etc.

     - once your story has been edited and critique, you will go back and rewrite the story with the edits and critiques in mind

THE RESULT

Your remixed fables, folklores and folktales will be displayed in a 6th grade Fable Blog. Below you'll find Mr. Murray's requirements for this project.
